About us
For more than 90 years, we have manufactured special and unique steel structures for customers at home and abroad.
In our production halls in Frederiksværk, we can, among other things:
- Fabricate large and advanced steel structures up to several hundred tons
- Servicing factory facilities
- Perform crane inspections and repairs
Our history
Nordisk Staal A/S is an old family company established in 1932.
The company has a great tradition of executing all kinds of steel structures from bridges to units built into, for example, smelting furnaces.
In connection with the bankruptcy of Det Danske Stålvalseværks in the summer of 2002, Nordisk Staal went bankrupt on March 31, 2003. Nordisk Staal was continued by 3 employees who founded the company Nordisk Staal A/S on April 1, 2003 and started up with 20 employees. Today, Nordisk Staal has grown and there are approximately 50-55 employees.
Today, Nordisk Staal A/S is owned by Mens et Manus ApS, Holles Holding ApS and Production Director Jesper Themsen and CEO Jan Sørensen. Jesper Themsen and Jan Sørensen are responsible for the daily operations of the company.
Nordisk Staal has manufactured a unique sprayforming system for our sister company Asgaard Metals, which produces extremely durable tool steel and some of the best metal powder on the market for 3D printing. Read more about this unique production method at Asgaard Metals here.

All Nordisk Staal's work is carried out according to our QHSE system with associated certifications. However, it will still be possible to request special quality systems if you wish.

Quality, environment and work environment policy
Nordisk Staal is a modern, flexible and responsible steel company with a sharp focus on delivering high quality. We organize our production with consideration for the surrounding environment and ensure a good and safe working environment for our employees.
We are committed to delivering well-documented quality products to our customers that meet their specific requirements and we work according to internationally recognized standards such as ISO 9001, DS/EN 1090, ISO 3834-2, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Nordisk Staal is happy to work with difficult and demanding tasks, and we work in all performance classes up to and including EXC 4. We place great emphasis on delivering efficient and flexible solutions in close dialog with our customers about their specific requirements and wishes - flexibility with quality is one of our key values. We always take pride in delivering on time, so that our customers' expectations are met.
Nordisk Staal has a thorough in-house control of our production and welding processes, and we work with skilled external suppliers of NDT etc. Our quality control is designed to ensure consistent, high quality for our customers and to help optimize processes to reduce environmental impact in terms of material and energy consumption. The scope of quality control is determined in dialogue with the individual customer and includes, for example, NDT of the welds performed, layer thickness measurements of surface treatment or other types of measurements to ensure that we meet customer requirements for the individual product.
We work actively to prevent pollution, and we maintain an ongoing dialog with our most important suppliers on environmental and occupational health and safety issues both when purchasing equipment and when starting up new projects or processes.
Our employees are highly skilled and motivated, and we place great emphasis on maintaining and developing their professional skills. It is important for us to ensure a good and safe working environment for our employees. Our goal is zero accidents at work, and we focus on safe and ergonomically correct handling of heavy materials in production.
Nordisk Staal A/S is committed to making continuous improvements to the management system in order to improve the quality, environment and working environment efforts. We work continuously to improve our services, working conditions, production equipment, production processes, etc. and naturally comply with applicable environmental and occupational health and safety legislation.
